Next fall, Agate Surrey, will publish The Migrant Filipino Kitchen: Stories and Recipes that Bring Us Home, edited by Jacqueline Chio-Lauri. The book is planned as “an eye-opener to Philippine culture and cuisine.”

In it, migrant Filipinos — including The White House Executive Chef Cris Comerford —look through the lens of a Filipino dish to tell stories of their lives and share recipes inspired by one of today’s hottest cuisines.

The personal real-life stories of overseas Filipino chefs, restaurateurs and foodies around the globe will reference traditional Filipino dishes to access memories of family, culture and emotions. Each story includes a recipe from the contributor.
